In
our first year the Lions Club of Caroline Springs & District has
these activities as priority objectives:
Youth
of the Year Quest
Targeting
16 to 19 year olds in final years at local secondary schools, this
project focuses on academic achievement, leadership, personality,
public speaking and good citizenship. Participation provides
opportunity to further develop self confidence, experience in
presentations, public speaking, interview experience, interaction with
other high achievers and to some extent travel. Participation is
competitive firstly for selection of finalist at the local Lions Club
level, then zone, regional, district, state and national finals.
Parkland Management
In
partnership with Delfin-Lendlease and the Shire of Melton identify a
parkland area that we can further manage and develop to enhance the
enjoyment and safety for local families.
Participate
in various Crime Prevention programs
Operation
Safe Plate
On
Saturday 27 Oct 07 six Lions from our Club volunteered their time along
with an officer from The Shire of Melton and Melton Police to replace
existing number plate screws with security screws. This service was
free of charge and some equipment was supplied by Bunnings. The Police
informed us that simple activities such as this is reducing the number
of crimes that are frequently committed with stolen number plates. It
also reduces the significant inconvenience to car owners arising from
stolen number plates. A typical crime involving stolen number plates is
driving off without paying for petrol.
